2 Bit Micro, LLC. 2BM10005

I need to drastically reduce the current consumption of the 2 Bit Micro, LLC. 2BM-10005 module during certain times of the day, but without losing data.
Normally, it draws approximately 70 mA. I tried connecting PIN 29 to ground to reduce consumption. Based on the datasheets, that current is practically consumed by the backlight diodes.
Is this the correct way to reduce the current, or is there another method?
I'd appreciate a response.

Hi, Yes typically the backlight is the most power hungry part of a TFT, so turning the backlight on is the best way to reduce current consumption.
