Three LCD questions

I´m building this one
http://www.syscall.de/ebay/datasheet_20x4.pdf (small)
http://www.syscall.de/ebay/Anschlussplan.pdf (small)
But there is some wierd things there in my opinion

First the resistor only 5.6ohm? All the others I´ve seen have been much higher.

Second pins 18 through 25 to GND I haven´t seen that before either.

Third what do I do with the wires in the printer cable that I don´t use just isolate them? and what about the wire that is connected to the metal casing (the caseing around the pins) what do I do with that one?

I hope these questions aren´t too supid. I just want to make sure I don´t destroy it sence this is my first LCD :).

We do not recommend the parallel modules (such as the one you are interested in) for end-user PC applications. These modules require more extensive wiring knowledge and the proper tools. These modules are primarily intended for OEM (manufacturer) use, and as such, we do not carry any cables, brackets, or serial adapters for these modules.

We do not offer end-user tech support on other manufacturer's modules

The serial/USB modules and kits (634, 633, 632 models and kits: http://www.crystalfontz.com/products/select_kit.html) are best suited for PC applications.

Please see this forum thread for our PC user LCD recommendations:

The end sum is:
Check your wiring, again. :(

Good wiring guides for HD44780 compatible LCD's can be found:
