Testing of LCD for Color Quality

I have received a few complaints from a couple of customers. They state the the "Quality of Color" from the LCD's that we provide is poor.

Is there any method to test a display for its ability to provide a true color?

I was was thinking that a Spectrometer might work with the use of a video generator.

Any additional information on the a method and equipment to use would be appreicated.

Which color is of concern?

Backlight color? The color of "on" pixels? The background color?

Can you give me a specific part number of the LCD in question?

My primary concern is of the "on" pixels, but if there is a way to test all three so much the better.

The panel that are used Sharp's LQ14D412. Others used LQ14D421, LQ6NC02,LQ056A3CH01 and LQ64D341 / LQ64D343.

I assume that these are TFT color LCDs? If so then there is some instrument that is used to test CRT quality. PC Magazine used to make a big deal in their monitor reviews of all the data they could get by using this device.

I think it may be called spmething like a "CRT Spot Meter", it seems like they could measure the color and brightness and black levels.
