Problems with CC2 and HD44780

Is anyone succesfully using CC2 with a standard HD44870 display?

I can not seem to get it working with my CFAH2004A-TMI-JP, it should be wired correctley as it works with CFAH_WinTest -program (after installing the Port95NT driver) and also with jaLCD.

How do I set up CC2 to work with this display (if possible)?

It actually only display the "test" bars (the two white solid bars).

Seems like the display never really get's initilized.

I found out that when I add a new module (Generic HD44870) I get presented the window with the settings, I choose 0x278 as my port address, I choose 20 columns and 4 rows and I have tried both Slow and Fast for speed. I click add/mod and I get back to the main configuration window.

If I now click configure (module), the window shows 0x278 for address, 20 columns and 12(!) rows, and either Fast/Slow.

If I choose 4 rows again and click add/mod, now the setting sticks.

However I can still only see the test bars (but maybe this have something to do with it).

I have tested my display on two diffrent computers with the same result, I have uninstalled/reinstalled several times.

One computer is running WinXP SP2 and the other one is running MCE2005.

Ok.
Obviously the size selection problem is a bug, ill get that fixed.
Even without that though, you would still see somthing on the LCD.

Can you have a look through the "lcd_hd44780.log" in the cc2-service directory.. or even better, attach it in here?

At a quick guess its a port driver problem (CANIO which should get installed with CC2).

Ok, thats good, but unfortunatley it doesnt mean CANIO has been properly installed or is working.
I cant think of an easy way to test for this either :(

Do you have CrystalControl1 installed?

I have checked the address and also tried diffrent addresses in the BIOS, with the same result.

I do not have CC1 installed, but I can give it a try.

with CC1 I get the following message:

Init of "Printer Port 0x278" failed.
The module will be disabled until it is reconfigured.

Any ideas?

check the address of your printer port, can be done under device manager.... or you can try the other 2 port address provided to u in CC2, most likely it 0x378.

I am having the exact same problem as him.

I went to uninstall CC2 so I could try CC1 again and it told me that there was a problem and CC@ might already be uninstalled. This is incorrect. But maybe that has something to do with it?

Just to add CC1 is also telling me printer port failed. I never had this problem before. It is also a brand new install of windows with SP2. I had SP1 before. Could this cause a problem?

I think the problem is SP2 for windows. I was looking around the net and there is threads hear and there with people complaining that when they installed SP2 there parallel port wont work. Im going to try my brothers SP2 install now.
