Problem with the degree symbol special character

Can anyone tell me why the degree symbol in this screen file displays as blocks?

Try this. The reason the block symbol was being displayed is that you can use only 1 set of custom characters at a time.

I replaced the custom character ° symbol with a \128 version. It works this way.

Thanks for your time Jim, I assume the Hbar in line 4 is considered to be a custom character.
