I reinstalled my System as well because of new Hardware and Ubuntu Release.
Tested out your new Patch, but still had to modify my Environment.
In configure.ac I changed the Line:
AM_INIT_AUTOMAKE([subdir-objects])
Otherwise the Patch failed because of files in Subdirectorys. And I still had to set the -fno-stack-protector CFLAG.
Anyway, it's still working fine with these modifications.
