Help Needed!!3.3V LCDs 16x2 hd44780

Dear Friends,

I used a 3.3V LCD 16x2 HD44780 with a microcontroller and my project was put to a real time testing in the field. After few days the LCD doesnt display anything, only its backlight works!
What are the points i should check upon?
I had used 5V with a 47E resistor for its backlight for current limiting.

Plz help me out!

Not much info given here.

Does it work if you reboot the micro?
Does it work if you shut off power and turn it back on?
Have you tried anything besides asking for help?
