Help locating an LCD

Hello all, I am new here my first post. I have spent days trying to locate or find the info needed to build a LCD display. I am trying to locate a Data Image CM080200/GRNNA-1 LCD. It is almost identical to many of the 0820 and 0802 models I have seen. If someone here has the patience to point me in the right direction I would be very grateful. I have attached a picture here of the IC rear. It is a 8x2 mono, no back light.

Looking for additional LCD resources? Check out our LCD blog for the latest developments in LCD technology.

So are you trying to find information on how to use the LCD?
Or are you trying to find a similar LCD that can be used in its place?

A quick Google yields the following results -

http://www.dataimagelcd.com/product/cm/doc/cm080200.htm - general information on the module

http://www.dataimagelcd.com/product/cm/pdf/CM080200GRNNA-01 .pdf - data sheet

If you are looking for a replacement module - then it looks like our CFAH0802A series will be a drop in replacement. More specifically, they CFAH0802-NYG-JP (no backlight):

The data sheet can be found here:

http://www.crystalfontz.com/products/0802a/CFAH0802ANYGJP.pdf

If you are looking for some information on actually using the LCD, our basic "CFAH WinTest" software (source code is available too) which you can get here:

Thank you for the replies.

CrystalControl Admin, I guess I am trying to do both now that you ask the question. This module plugs into a pin block (so easy replacement), But what I don't know is if the types that I have found (I checked all the places CF Support2 mentioned before posting here) and many more I have talked to persons at Liquid Crystal, Ge Sensing, Data image ...Neither Data Image or GE sensing will sell one or even tell you where to get one. It's like a secret. Well you get the idea.

SO I can find very similar models. I was told they used to have a production number of HD4470 whatever that means.

I guess I asking is will the modules that are available say that CF Support2 listed, will they replace the old one...is it plug and play?

I really want to thank you all for this help. I am terminally ill and I need a oxygen and Co2 mix Carbogen in the house areas I stay in to stop convulsions, so your help is a blessing to me
Thank you.

Most of the links were to the actual manufacturer - it was a little hard to find the actual module out there and I too was unable to determine if it is still made or not.

You will find that most character modules are based on a clone of the Hitachi HD44780 controller.

Based on the information we could gather, the CFAH0802-NYG-JP looks to be as close as a drop in replacement as possible. Is it totally "plug and play"? Probably as close as is possible to get. In comparing the data I could find with our own module, it does look to be a good replacement.

Again, you are most welcome.

We have some additional information on working with LCDs in this thread:

There should be enough information in there to get you started along with the data sheets for the module and controller. Anything else you run into, do not hesitate to ask
