graphic lcd, for temp monitoring front panel

I want to do this:

LCD screen (graphic) that will show as a histogram the temperature in various parts of the pc (cpu, gfx, psu, hdd, ambient).

I was thinking along the lines of an lcd that is driven by a microcontroller that is getting temperature info from 5 sensors (thermistors? dunno what... that's why i am asking you) that is powered from the motherboard +5V/+12V powersupply (so no need for separate power button... gets powered up when the pc gets powered up :) or runs even when pc is off but psu is on)

is there an easier way? has anyone done that?
