EL backlight Vs. regular LED backlight

i think i've finally found the LCD that i want but has the following question:

1.
what's the difference between LCDs w/ EL backlight and regular LED backlight?

and

http://www.crystalfontz.com/products/12864b/index.html#CFAG12864BWGHV

2. what are the advantages and or disadvantages of using either LCD?

LED backlight:

pros:
low voltage
relatively bright
easily dimmable (PWM)

cons:
high power consumption
gets warm
thick

EL backlight

pros:
low power consumption
very thin

cons:
requires high AC voltage
need an inverter to provide AC voltage
relatively low light output

The LED version of the CFAG12864 has reasonable power consumption (only 200 mW) compared to some of the other LED graphic displays. My opinion: I tend to avoid EL because of the "cons" unless LED version is not available or I need low power consumption.
