633 Dallas one-wire speed

We are using a 633 to read (and write of course) to a 1-wire RAM chip. We have noticed that reads take about .75-1 second. Is there any way to speed that up? The 1-wire chip supports overdrive mode, but I don't know that the 633 does.

We do the one-wire with a software routine, and the only speed it can do is the speed it does.

It is not "overdrive".
