RS232 Voltage Level to PLC

Hello,
I am considering using a CFA533 connecting to a Micrologix PLC. The specification sheet for the CFA533 indicates it has a full swing RS232 function. I assume that is somewhere between +/- 5V and +/- 12V. Is that correct?

My second question is: The CFA533 will that be suitable, or are there any Crystalfontz devices there would be better connecting to a PLC? I Need the RS232 and a the pushbuttons on the unit.

We use a Sipex (now Exar) SP3220EEA for the RS-232 level translation:

Output Voltage Swing: +/- 5.0 minimum, +/- 5.4 typical
Input Threshold LOW: minimum 0.6 typical 1.2
Input Threshold HIGH: minimum 1.5 typical 2.4​

Note that you can order the Inverted Logic Level version of the CFA533, it exposes the UART pin without the SP3220EEA, so it is 0-3.3v or 0-5v (depending on your power supplied to the CFA-533).

For RS-232 and buttons, the CFA-533 is an excellent candidate

If you wanted 4 lines you could go with the CFA-635.
