uController interface with CFAG240128D-YYH-TZ

We're trying to interface a Freescale MC9s12C128 microcontroller to the CFAG240128D-YYH-TZ. So far, all that will display is a sweep from top to bottom at approximately 4Hz. At this point we can't get a single character to display. Ultimately this will be used graphically, but for now we're trying to utilize character mode just to verify functionality with the micro. If someone could provide a step by step example of the necessary signals to display a single character, it would be much appreciated. We're programming this in assembly, and we don't have access to a C compiler, so C code is unfortunately not of much assistance.

I know you want assembly, but this is all I have. Perhaps you can use the C code as a template to pattern your assembly code after.

The sweeping pattern is typical of the LCD controller not being initialized.
