graphic lcd question

i want to produce an X versus Y plot of 2 sensors on a graphical LCD, preferably with a scale on both axis, and plot a simple line in real time. i want to use a pic to do this. at the moment I have a prototype that works well, using a Basic Atom as a processor, and outputting to a serial graphic LCD. Problems: the LCD is small and cost too much (£90 pounds) and it won't allow the scales to be produced, it plots just the X v Y line. Can I buy a cheaper serial, and which one allows a fixed scale to be produced together with a real-time changing XY plot; would it be better to go for a parallel LCD, but can this be done easily with a pic?
