I have a project where I need 50 displays to show a graphic that will be roughly 20" long and 6" high. Ever seen such a beast?

Nope.

Theoretically possible, but it would be very expensive. You would be pushing the limits of the "mother glass". Probably would be better off going for LED signs.

...or perhaps LCD (As in Large Character Display), like they have at some petrol (i.e. GAS to you Americans!) stations to dipaly the prices.
