Code Licensing

Hi, I had a question I was hoping could be answered here. If someone posts code on the forums here can someone take that code and use it in either an open source or commercial project? I ask because I recently found code posted here that I would like to use in an open source project. The code I am using from this forum that prompted this question can be viewed here:

Implicitly, the poster at https://forum.crystalfontz.com/showthread.php?6761-632-634-Net-class is sharing the code for you to use. Using the code without a license in a public or commercial purpose is tricky. The best and safest thing to do is contact the developer and ask them for the terms that they release the code under. That removes as much of the ambiguity as possible. All of this being said, we are not lawyers.

Thanks for the response. I will contact the original poster of the code (hopefully they are still around). The main reason I was asking my question was because I know many forums claim ownership over what is posted on them, and I just wanted to be sure that if I did get approval from the original poster, that I wouldn't have some kind of problem with Crystalfontz later.
