CFA835-TFK with CFA-FBSCAB (powering)

Hi,

I plan to use the CFA835-TFK (USB-powered) LCD modules with a CFA-FBSCAB for fan control and temperature measurements. I only have a dedicated 12V power supply in my system. The question is if I can provide 5V from the LCD to the FBSCAB (logic), and only connect the external 12V supply for the fan power. And, if there are any jumpers on the CFA-FBSCAB to make this happen.

Specifically, the CFA835-TFK manual says:
"Power steering jumpers on the FBSCAB module, configure it to be supplied with 5V power from attached CFA835 module, or by a PC “floppy-disk” style 5V/12V connector. See the FBSCAB datasheet for more."

But I cannot find anything about this in the FBSCAB datasheet.

Hi,

You are able to power the CFA-FBSCAB from the CFA835-TFK. To do this, solder the UPPWR jumper, then connect the 12V supply and GND to J_PWR. This will power the FBSCAB from the CFA835-TFK. Be sure to connect the 12V to the correct pins on J_PWR as shown in the datasheet.

Thank you for bringing this to our attention — we will work on getting the datasheet updated to reflect the use of each jumper.

Thanks for getting back on this.
I confirm that this answers my original question, and it works on my hardware setup as described above.
Best.
