Boot screen work with older 634?

My 634 ver 1.2 will turn 3yrs old next week and I can't seem to get the boot setup software to save to eeprom.
I can get it to disply the custom boot screen, but it doesn't appear to be saving the file?

Is the software compatible with the 1.2 ver of the 634?
If not, is there a way to add the screen created with boot setup to my Crystal Control?

The EEPROM was introduced in v2.0. The v1.2 displays cannot store the boot state.

I have a version 2.2 screen but mine doesn't seem to store the boot screen either. The utility is able to send the data to the LCD because what I type is displayed on the 634. But when I do a soft reboot the same old boot screen appears.
