I tried all of the software in this forum and many others until i found one that worked best for me and is overall easy to use.

Here is the URL http://www.borderfield.com/lcd.php

And for those who dont know where to get any other software to try here is some more....

I hope this helps out some of you. I didnt list all of them and i am still searching for the best ones. If anyone else has any please post them here.

Crystal Control is the best software I have used yet. I does take a while to setup multiple pages though. The Interface is a little bit more difficult than say LCD center, or others. But the good thing is that after it is setup... it works :) :D

Great Program - a few humble suggestions

The program works as advertised, and doesn't crash my XP, even on shut-down (LCD Stats prevents shutdown, who knows why).

I've become so used to the LCD Stats display, I miss a couple of things:

1. Network traffic in Kbps rather than bps (numbers too large to be useful). Can I simply enter a multiplier to reduce the output to Kbps? If so, what is the syntax for such entries.

2. Also, rather than simply cycling a screen which displays new email numbers, is it possible to simply check periodically and then display a notification if messages exist?

Many thanks for the great work. Of course I suspect you might have had some ulterior motives - if you get the word out to the Hardware sites, you'll sell a lot more displays now they "come" with software.

Many thanks.

You can.
In the "information settings" box in the screen settings dialog box, you can select the precision and scale.
You want to change the scale.

Or you can edit the ~tag~ code.
Gives bytes per second:
~PM06\Network Interface(Intel[R] PRO_100 S Desktop Adapter)\Bytes Received/sec~
Give Kbytes per second:
~PM03\Network Interface(Intel[R] PRO_100 S Desktop Adapter)\Bytes Received/sec~

2. Also, rather than simply cycling a screen which displays new email numbers, is it possible to simply check periodically and then display a notification if messages exist?
Cant be done at the moment.

Can you tell me what the proper settings are for the NUMBER SIZE, PRECISION, and the SCALE to get the reading in KBs instead of bytes ?

I tried setting the tag to PM03 like you posted but I dont get a reading for Packets sent and Packets received with the PM03 tag.

Thanks. P.S>. Great software.

The 03 bit only sets the precision and the scale... not what data its collecting. The rest of the tag after the PM03 does that.

The 0 is precision where it sets the number of decimal places.
The 3 is the divider/mulitplier.

Do you know why Im not getting a reading for Packets sent and Packets received when I have the PM03 tag ? Im getting a reading on total. Also is there a way to speed up the refresh on the readings ? Thanks. Here is an exact copy of the tags:

In : ~PM03\Network Interface(3Com EtherLink XL 10_100 PCI For Complete PC Management NIC [3C905C-TX] - Packet Scheduler Miniport)\Packets Received/sec~

Out : ~PM03\Network Interface(3Com EtherLink XL 10_100 PCI For Complete PC Management NIC [3C905C-TX] - Packet Scheduler Miniport)\Packets Sent/sec~

Total: ~PM03\Network Interface(3Com EtherLink XL 10_100 PCI For Complete PC Management NIC [3C905C-TX] - Packet Scheduler Miniport)\Bytes Total/sec~

No its not.

You want:
....\Bytes Received/sec~
....\Bytes Sent/sec~
.....\Bytes Total/sec~

Speed up the Performance monitor updates in the overall settings dialog (button next to the about box button).
