634 not receiving data

I have just received a 634 LCD. It is connected to COM1 via a straight-through cable. (extension cable). The LCD responds to RTS by showing the boot screen then a single block curson. (boot screen shows 19.2KB). I have tried to send data via HyperTerm as well as WinTest 2.0 with no luck. WinTest gives a popup box "Send_Buffer(): only 0 of 1 bytes sent.".

Any ideas?

Answer to my own problem! It was flow control. Was set to hardware so set it to None and then all worked. Evidently it was set in hardware on the Com port so had to turn it off with HyperTerm. Then the CrystalFontz programs worked well.
