Max. supply current for CFAH1602B-NGG-JPV

I'm a student using the CFAH1602B-NGG-JPV LCD module in a project for class. The module is being used in a battery-powered device, so I'm planning on shutting it down with a transistor switch when there is nothing to display. The datasheet says that the typical supply current for the module is 1.2 mA. I'd like to know if the maximum current is significantly higher than that so that I can figure out how to design the shutdown circuitry.

I appreciate any advice or information. Thanks in advance!

If you are interested in low power, please consider the CFAX12864CP1NGH:

For design purposes, just make sure your switch can handle 10mA and it should be good. You can probably power the LCD from a port pin on your micro (put some decoupling caps).
