hey all
new to lcds and new to crystalfontz
im having a few issues with my LCD at the moment, its a 1x16 unit however, when setup using a 1x16 setting, only the first 8 blocks are used, this has led me to believe that perhaps this lcd is a 2x8 lcd with the two rows stuck next to each other.

is there anyway i can get crystalfontz to work with this?
thanx

All 1x16 LCDs that I'm aware of are laid out as a 2x8, with the lines concatenated. This layout allows the use of the single controller chip instead of using a controller chip plus a driver chip.

On page 8 of the data sheet, you can see the CGRAM address map, which shows the addresses in the right half of the display starting at 0x40.

The higher level software like LCDSmartie or CC1 should be aware of the 1x16 layout.

Most people use 2x16 LCDs, so maybe some of those have not been tested with a 1x16.
